Procrastination needs to be a course

If it were offered, I would minor and major in PuttingItAllOff. I'm reaaaaaaaal good at it. Seeing as I haven't updated this blog in about a month, of course I decide that the best time to do it is when I am supposed to be studying for my Bio final. C'est la vie.

not too much going on right now unfortunately, but Xmas break is soon so I will have LOTS to post shortly. Keep watching!

Slow on the Update...but some new pics ;)

Let me take a moment to be cheesy and wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving! Remember what you have, because (especially with the economy as it is) some people are not as fortunate. Now that I am off of my soap box, I would like to share a few new photos I've taken over the last couple of weeks. Enjoy!

***also*** I am making these hand knit bracelets and headbands...will post pictures soon. Great gift idea!!!

Skate-tastic

Pretty much all of my closest friends skateboard, and even Sara and myself, the only two females, are doing our best to learn. Recently, Richard, Drew, and Trace decided to skate the park in Columbus, GA, and I brought my camera along to capture the "magic"...

Ode to Sarah ;)

My friends have talent. Extreme talent. Sky high, hit-you-in-the-face-like-a-ton-of-bricks, mind-blowingly awesome talent. My best friend, Sarah, is a wonderful writer/poet majoring in English at Auburn University. Her presence and demeanor literally light up a room, and her passion shows through in her writing. BONUS!----she is absolutely insane (like myself, perhaps that is why we get along so well). So please, enjoy some of her work!

I am nature. And like nature, I steer towards calamity. Like a hurricane, the words of my mouth are a destructive wind. They feed off each other, like winds off of warm water, And as they gain speed, they destroy all in their path.

I am nature. And like nature, I will recover. Like after the volcano erupts and every sign of life, The tiny sprouts of green emerge from the ruin, And joyfully express the continuation of growth

. I am nature. And like nature, my nature is ever changing. Like the summer, winter, spring, and fall. The desert, forest, mountain, and valley, I am as diverse as the passing of seasons.

I am nature. And like nature, one thing is constant. Like the push and pull of the ocean tide, in and out, I am forever pulled into a cycle of failure and regret, Forever pushing towards a deeper love.

I am nature. And like nature, I grow and nourish. Like the lush fields of grass, I cradle and sing sweet songs. The wind blows softly across the long reeds, And gently whispers ”hush, hush” in my ear.

There’s an ocean, spans the distance between us
Waves of cool blues lap at each of our feet
As our arms span the miles and miles of
Raging waves full of worries and fears

Your tender words span the chasm before us
And seal my heart with the tenderest kiss
Our star crossed eyes, fixed on wonder and beauty
Are bound to light, blind to darkness and shame

Fingers, soft, graze the top of the water
As we move we are dragging our toes
Spinning round, I fall and you catch me
And plunging further into the deep, we go

Election Day

Is it really that important to vote? Is my voice really going to make a difference? heck yes. I understand that now (ironically, now that I have made the decision to vote I can't figure out where my polling place is...thank you dorm life). So, drawing on the buzz of millions of people exercising their freedom to vote, I figured I would make today's post liberty-themed.

*cue the trumpets*

Koi are revered by fish enthusiasts as "living art" (kittymowmow). True statement! It is impossible to not feel inspired by their flowing fins, sparkling scales, and heavenly hues. 'What do fish have to do with freedom?', you ask. It is their beauty that sets them free. When I watch koi dance around in the water, it is almost like their souls are illuminated. The brightness of a koi's body contrasts agains the dark background. Analogous to a graceful fish is a human being so beautifully afforded the liberty to confidently allow their opinions and decisions to radiate from within, brightly shining against a clouded backdrop of confusion. So on this day, go out and be your own little light in the world. Vote! ('cause yo mama told you so)

Musings of All Sorts

Alright. It is about 20 minutes before my biology lab starts and rather than study the processes of meiosis and mitosis, I figure I'll play around online. In my previous post I said my reason for creating this blog was to inspire you all out there to add a little somethin' pretty to your life. True statement. FORGOT to mention that I also want to use this as a venue to get some of my stuff "out there." Therefore, all art featured is original unless stated otherwise (and I have some pretty creative friends, so stay tuned for their art, music, and photography).

I suppose I should skittle along to enjoy some bio-licious afternoon delight. Peace
